i cannot even remember the last time i linked up with jenn at peas and crayons for what i ate wednesday. it's been too long, that is for sure. the problem is i am not into taking pictures of what i eat all day anymore. it started as an "i don't want to be the weirdo in the lunchroom snapping pics of my salad" to a "i didn't make anything super delicious or innovative, so why take a pic?" and now it's just...mostly laziness. however, i have been eating, and i've been eating some good food so i figured i'd go ahead and post about what i've been loving lately in the food department. and that is carbs. and soda. whoops.
PIZZAS. i made a buffalo chicken pizza for tex and i a few weeks ago and since then i've been making individual pizzas every time we don't have anything else planned for dinner. i love the la tortilla factory wraps for these because they get good and crispy in just a few minutes in the oven. something i do not love? zevia. maybe cola just isn't the flavor for me but i was grossed out by this and am glad my six pack is gone. i'll leave the "healthy soda" to you people and just keep going with the aspartame riddled stuff every once in a while.
easy chicken stir fry for dinner one night. tex loves all things asian inspired because it gives him an excuse to eat all the rice with ALL of the soy sauce, so stir fries and other asian dishes have become a staple. i'm making sesame chicken tonight, in fact.
in an effort to eat less sugar i decided to change from chobani bites to siggi's yogurt with my lunch. these are so good, guys. definitely thicker than greek yogurt and they do still have that sour tang that some people don't like but i've been loving them. so far orange ginger and blueberry are my favorites.
pretzels all. the. time. i was buying a bag a day from the vending machine at school and decided it would be more cost effective (and more honest) if i just went for it and bought the big bag myself. now i get to think of sarah every day during my morning pretzel snack ;) to keep it fully real on the blog, i've been struggling with making sure i'm eating enough with the upped cardio in my workout plans and so i've been looking for ways to eat more throughout the day. all i crave is carbs for snacks and i was not giving into these cravings because of pre-held beliefs that too many carbs is bad for you (this is dumb, i know, especially given that i'm marathon training right now) but i'm done with that stupidity and now the pretzels are a particularly enjoyable part of my day. i'm going to probably get into all of this more in a more in-depth post but suffice it to say - eating more is fun but not the easiest mentally because i didn't feel like i was restricting before so now i feel like i'm eating a ton. gotta reset my brain a bit in this department.
oatmeal in the mornings. loving my hot breakfasts despite the fact that it is still in the 80s here. there is a high today in houston of 88. GUYS IT IS OCTOBER. that is unacceptable. tex told me it would break in mid-september and he LIED.
to go along with the more carby snacks, cereal is back in full-force. i have been wading through my cereal stash at an alarming rate and it looks like my amazon account might get hit up this week for a kashi-replenishing. indigo morning is awesome but i'm much more into the simply maize - keep your freeze dried berries, kashi. i like it plain.
nothing too exciting or earth shattering in the kitchen, but definitely a lot of delicious going on. what have you been eating lately?
