{insert another apology for horrible photography here} let's all just assume the deliciousness of my food is inversely proportional to the quality of the photography, ok? glad we can all agree on that. let me own the fact that i will never drop thousands of dollars on a camera and i can say that's the reason i won't ever have good pictures...here's the reality of the matter though: i am incredibly lazy. if i had a real camera i'd probably have to connect it to my computer to upload pictures and then i'd probably have to edit the pictures because that is what one does when one has a fancy camera and like i said: lazy. so take what you can get.
this picture is particularly awful but i wanted to showcase the glory that is the layers of brownie and peanut butter amazingness that is happening here. from the top it doesn't look quite so weird and gross, right?
i'm bringing these down to richmond with me this weekend and it has been ALL i could do not to rip into these before i go. brownie on the bottom, peanut butter cups and peanuts in the middle, rice krispies on top mixed in a chocolate pb melty sauce? oh good lord i cannot wait to cut into these/potentially already cut out a few corner pieces to try. what? chelsie told me it would be okay and sort of decorative.
i went on a date to chipotle with some students yesterday before an event we had at school. two of my sixth graders made it into a district-wide competition for cubes and square roots (wtf, i know, but i was proud anyway) so i wanted to treat them to a dinner beforehand as a congratulations/to try to help them cope with their extreme anxiety over performing in front of a crowd. not to mention that i really wanted chipotle and had to kill an hour and a half of time before the event started. i haven't had chipotle in FOREVER. tex and my fellow grad students used to go once a week back when we were in classes (in 2009-2010) and i think i totally od'd on it. tex still loves it and eats it probably once a week but i always refuse to go. well lately i've been craving it (i blame instagram) so i made it happen. i got my salad topped with chicken, black beans, fajita veggies and ALL OF THE SALSA. i shared chips and guac with the girls but to be frank, there wasn't a lot of sharing - i demolished most of the bag. tex would be proud. i guess chipotle will now be making its way back into the rotation of chain restaurants that we love to frequent.
had to use the instagram filter on this one because it really looked kind of hideous without it. take a moment and imagine this picture looking worse (i know, hard to do). when i finally got home from the event last night i had my final quest bar - chocolate pb - heated up in the microwave and topped with skippy peanut butter. this was at the suggestion of sam and if i didn't love her enough already...well this just solidified it.
and before i close up shop for the weekend let me just say: working at a school is truly a joy a lot of the time. i laugh at work more than most of you combined, i'd be willing to bet. there are definitely perks. something that is not one of those perks, however, is access to a clean and organized fridge wherein an employee can store their lunch. our fridge is really disgusting regularly but during science fair season? holy shit. what the hell is that? that's some type of science fair experiment i discovered on the top shelf of our fridge when i went to put my lunch in yesterday. i hope you're reading this while eating breakfast and that experiment involving tomato/lime/chocolate/sweet and sour sauce (this is my assumption based on appearance, though i'm not sure how this is rooted in any type of scientific inquiry) inspires you to try something new this morning. now, go to work and be thankful if you have a clear shelf to perch your lunch on.
happy friday!
<3
Hahahahaha, ok I'm glad I already ate breakfast or I might have had to stop. Those brownies look amazing and I hope you enjoy them to the fullest this weekend :) Oh and that pb/chocolate bar? Totally thought you were having a cheeseburger for a bedtime snack and was going to get very excited about it :P
ReplyDelete"two of my sixth graders made it into a district-wide competition for cubes and square roots (wtf, i know, but i was proud anyway)" - this made me laugh out loud for about a full minute. Chipotle is AWESOME and surprisingly healthy if you don't get the burrito. AND, I need to figure out where to buy quest bars around here, I'm getting jealous.
ReplyDeleteHaha this made me laugh. Chels is very smart about the decorations, I agree. And you must be a good teacher if your kids are going to a competition for math fun! I can't even add numbers without a calculator so that's a plus in my book! I want to go to Richmond. It sounds warmer there. And more fun.
ReplyDeleteWhoaaa, that pb brownie thing looks amazing, droool. And you're right, instagram is the bringer of all cravings.
ReplyDeleteI am fairly certain that it is impossible for the combination of chocolate and peanut butter to ever look gross. I would definitely dig right in ASAP! :)
ReplyDeleteBeing a fellow teacher, I can totally attest to the disgustingness that can happen in the fridge! Oh Em Gee it can be super nasty and I hate putting my lunch anywhere near it! But! I absolutely love teaching so I'll deal with it :)
ReplyDeleteWHAT THE FRICK, there is something growing in there. I need you to be my teacher, you bring me food, make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside... oh except the part about sharing the chips. OH HELL TO THE NO I would have made you move on over
ReplyDeleteBoo! Why do quest bars have to contain dairy?? Not fair!
ReplyDeleteWoah, woahhh you're going down to RVA with those goodies? I don't think it's safe to drive with them... I'll happily babysit your apartment and make sure the pan is clean upon your return ;) You are the best [and nerdiest] math teacher - Chipotle celebration dinner! I cannot wait for my Quest shipment to arrive - that combo sounds divine...
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh my gosh. Those brownies look UNREAL. Like everything I could ever possibly hope for crammed into one dessert. Need need need.
ReplyDeletechipotle is the best. now I'm craving a nice, big burrito bowl!
