recap: best body bootcamp week 2

well, better late than never i always say. i don't actually believe that because in my mind there really are fewer things worse than being late. i hate being late so much. i never am more anxious than when i am running late for something, anyone who knows me can attest. but since there's really no actual deadlines for best body bootcamp recaps except for the ones i impose on myself, i suppose being late isn't that big of a problem.

on to week two of bootcamp...here was how the week actually went down:

monday - workout a with cardio intervals - i did this in my living room and my "cardio bursts" were five minutes of mountain climbers, high knees and butt kicks
tuesday - 3.5 mile run
wednesday - unplanned rest day because my doctor's appointment ran late
thursday - 35 minute tempo run / workout b
friday - 3 mile run (i did it in the morning! go me!)
saturday - workout c
sunday - rest

overall it was a pretty solid week. i was a bit thrown off by wednesday night because i was planning on being ahead of the game, but i ended up fitting in all of my bootcamp workouts and i'll get my longer run in tonight (that's the plan anyway).

this week should look about like this:

monday - workout c with 20 minutes of steady state cardio - this workout is meant to be done later in the week but i didn't want to combine it with a longer run so i decided to knock it out on one of my low-to-no mileage days - i did this workout yesterday in houston...holy moses, it was a toughie - can't wait to hear what other bootcampers think.
tuesday - 7 mile run (done with this too because apparently i find it impossible to write a post in one sitting)
wednesday - 7 x 400 repeats / workout a (if i'm feeling up to it - might move it to thursday)
thursday - 3.5 mile run
friday - 20 minutes steady state cardio / workout b OR rest
saturday - rest OR 20 minutes steady cardio / workout b
sunday - 8 mile run

this week is super tentative as you might have noticed because i have a VERY special guest coming in this weekend! caitlin and i are playing it very by ear in terms of what we have planned (aka nothing except a burger date - hopefully with these two), especially for working out. we're definitely going for a long run together with alex and sarah on sunday (obviously - how could we pass up that chance?) but we may or may not decide to be completely lazy on saturday. maybe i'll make her teach me some yoga.

goals for last week: flossing and stretching. i did a superb job on both of these things. i have promptly fallen back off the stretching wagon but i'm still going strong on the flossing! i want a precor stretching machine in my living room that way i could stretch while i watched biggest loser but i googled them and they're expensive. dammit.

goals for this week: hmmm i think i might be too late for this one. BUT i shall make my goal to eat extra servings of veggies throughout the day where i might normally not. i'm so awful about eating vegetables. i love me some leafy greens but damn i just can't seem to up my other vegetable intake. let me try again...

let's never go this long without speaking again...missed you all dearly!

  2. YAY!!! I love being a special guest!! And I will gladly teach you some yoga and you can cream me with a workout (but you'll probably be carrying me to the burger place just to warn you)...or we can be lazy in our smurf pants, which sounds much more enjoyable at the moment...need to rest our bodies for burgers and a run after all ;)

  5. Ummmm SO EXCITED! It's in my iphone calendar which means it's happening :) Also, we could wander to yoga studios and go to free first-timers yoga ;) I mean... who does that? Be prepared for some way too much excitement... yesterday I was literally jumping up and doing high skips the first mile with my distance girls I was so happy to be back with them...

  6. I definitely need to be better about flossing and stretching. I was doing so well with foam rolling every day until after Goofy and I've totally fallen off the bandwagon. Must get back on!

  7. Um, yes. Workout C = BRUTAL. Actually, I didn't think it was that bad at the time (although I was a little confused on the wall sit thing, like if we were supposed to do several rounds of 90 seconds or a total of 90 seconds or what...so I just ended up doing 60 seconds, 50 seconds, 60 seconds, 50 seconds, 60 seconds. See, this is why I should join the BBBC facebook group. Then I could get these questions answered). But MONDAY. Oh, oh, Monday. I did the workout on Sunday for a similar reason to yours -- I know I have breakdancing on Saturday, and I had a feeling Workout C would kick my behind, and I didn't want to be completely immobile on Saturday, so instead of doing Workout B on Sunday like I originally planned, I did Workout C. Needless to say, moving was a serious challenge all day on Monday, and yesterday, while better, was hardly perfect. I've just kind of accepted that between boot camp and breakdancing, I'm just going to be in a permanent state of soreness from now until March (unless I start actually practicing my breakdancing when I'm not in class...but man, when am I supposed to find time for that? I'm too busy abusing myself with BBBC to add even more strength training/cardio on top of that, you know?)

    1. haha i'm not in the fb group either i had the same thought so i attempted to do 90 second ones every time and realized that wasn't going to happen and i must have made a mistake. i struggled on my run yesterday because of my legs being sore. ouch! i like being sore though, makes me feel like it's working.
